Used Magnum offers something for nearly any wagon shopper--just avoid the small V6.
The majority of owners are more than satisfied with the performance of the 3.5 litreer engine. It's all the power the Magnum needs, and it comes without the hefty fuel bills associated with the HEMI V8. Opt for the bigger engine, and you'll be treated to explosive acceleration and sound effects-- though fuel bills will increase accordingly. Die-hard Dodge fan wouldn't have it any other way.

Some owners take issue with Magnum's rear-drive layout in winter driving. With proper tires, driving adjustments and the available stability control, rear-drive in a Canadian winter is a non-issue. Just ask anyone who was around in the sixties how they did it. If you need it, an all wheel drive system was available with the 3.5 or 5.7 litreer engines.

Avoid Magnum's 2.7 litreer V6 engine on account of numerous, well-documented owner complaints regarding engine failure. The 3.5 litreer unit sees far less complaints online, as do both of the HEMI V8 units. There seems to be nothing major in terms of common transmission or AWD troubles thus far in Magnum's life as a used car.

Inspect the condition of seating and upholstery, remembering that the condition of a vehicle's interior is a good indication of how well it was maintained mechanically.

Be sure to check for proper operation of all interior accessories on a test-drive, paying special attention to the functioning of the windows and sunroof. Note any leaks, dents or excessive rust underneath-- and be sure that fluid isn't seeping out from the differential or front transaxle on AWD models. Transmissions were known to leak from a pressure switch mounted through their housing, though this problem should be fairly obvious to observe.

A mechanic can inspect the underside of the car in a few minutes if you're unsure. Have them check the condition of the suspension, tires and brakes, too. If attention is required to any of the above, be sure to call it into pricing negotiations.

You'll want to contact a Dodge dealership to make sure all recall-related work has been performed. Recalls dealt with possible transmission issues, leaky brake lines, seatbelts, and an improperly-secured battery.

Consider the used Magnum as a more flexible alternative to a family sedan, or as a smaller alternative to an SUV / Crossover if you're in the used marketplace.
