Much to the public's delight, 2007 has become the year for evolutionary design and mechanical advances for Nissan's sedan line-up. Most notably, however, are the dynamic differences in the 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5SE V6 in both looks and performance. What was once seen as a practical family sedan, can now be categorized as a practical performance sedan.

The 2007 Altima is a perfect evolution of the 2002-06 model.

The Perfect Face-Lift

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then Nissan must have some pretty love-struck owners - the Altima's brand new shape is both alluring and seductive. While last year's model was a little boxy, 2007 has seen the Altima slim down and shape up in all the right places; with a gently sloping nose and lines that continue all the way to the rounded rear bumper, complete with futuristic wrapping taillights.

A wide stance gives the Altima an impressive presence on the road and suggests speed and stability. Whereas, the understated black front grill, and recessed plastic encased fog lights, seem a bit out of place and almost too simple for the Altima's overall design - rather like they didn't quite know what to do with it, so they just stuck anything in there to fill space. Despite that, the overall design of the new Altima is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and an experience for the senses.

A Change Within ...
Bonus marks go to Nissan's design team for making the Altima's interior that much better than previous years. Both comfort and practicality were considered and kept in high priority. With the 3.5SE's leather interior and Navigational package, it was a ride in pure functional luxury.

All controls and buttons are placed well within the driver's reach on the middle console, and the steering wheel. The touch-screen Navigational display is both functional and innovative; displaying GPS maps, media information, mechanical read-outs and even doubling as a rear-mounted monitor when put in reverse.

From the outside the Altima seems to have shrunken in size, yet once inside, no space is lost. Three adult passengers fit comfortably in the back seat and there is ample trunk space, for a sedan. Somehow, Nissan managed to defy the very laws of physics and create a car that feels so much larger than it actually looks ... what will they think of next?

Fully-equipped, the 3.5SE combines luxury and functionality.
