I've purchased the extended warranty 7/100000km deal for my Acura 1.7EL. Would I void my warranty if I have it serviced somewhere else other then an Acura dealership? What if I do the maintence work myself like oil changes and such, would that effect my warranty in anyway? Please advise...
Anyone ran into trouble making a claim if maintence is not performed at the dealership?
Thanks

Short answer? Nope.
But, keep your receipts handy, and go by your owner's manual, as far as maintenance intervals go.

Well then here is the long of it.
Like the snoman said, no, it should not void the warranty. But...
When and if you should make a claim during the warranty period, the dealer, who will look in your file for maintenance records, will say: we have no records. Therefore we cannot repair your car. What you will have to do at this point is produce your personal maintenace records.
So, I don't think that doing the oil changes yourself is a good idea just yet. You will never be able to prove the intervals, the exact amounts and what was what done exactly. I suggest you find a local, corner, friendly garage who will do the work for a reasonable price. On the bills, make sure that ALL the required info is clearly indicated: Date, mileage, name, VIN, parts, quantities, prices, labour... Keep these documents in a safe place and pull them out only if you need them.
You essentially bought an all-dressed Civic , which is a great thing because the car is very reliable, economical and is a nice drive.
The most important element is the oil changes!
