Just wondering what the process would be if I wanted to import a used car or motorcycle from the states. The stong dollar is a plus but I am not familiar with duty regs. A lot of good deals on ebay...

You should be able to find information on the Quebec government web site about importation. I do know cars 15 years or older can be imported, but there is a list of admissible vehicles under 15 years.
Here is also a Web site for importing vehicles into Canada:

It does seem like a lot of work, but if you do your homework, and prepare thoroughly, you shouldn't have too much of a problem (from what I've heard).
woohoo!

The fact that you can't get the vehicle inspected, let alone see it in person before purchasing scares the s**t outta me...

Unless you're buying a classic 1966 Mustang from a reputable dealership in the US, I would not do it.
yes I did. I bid and bought a 98 Pathfinder. After auction I phoned the caNissan car dealer in US and had the car inspected. Then I went to the states and picked up the car.
If you are bringing the car (driving from States) Make sure you send the paper work to us customs at the border about 5 days before you plan to cross the border. If you are planning to have it shipped, a customs broker can handle the paperwork for you.

Was it really worth it? Did you save a considerable amount of money compared to the trouble you had to go through?
woohoo!

That's interesting, SKK. Please tell us the steps you had to take to get the SUV through the border.
