I don't know all the details, but I got a friend who has a Elantra GT and since day one, his clutch slips. The manufacturer doesn't want to replace it.
Nothing major I think, just small nagging problems.
I think Hyundai's biggest problem is standing by their warranty.

Most common issues involve the automatic transmission, wheel bearings and a few electrical problems.
I would not be too concerned about buying one...
...although someone on these forums (forgot the name) has had many problems with his.

thx guys
i've test driven the elantra GT a few years ago and liked the compromise between ride and handling. i thought it looked pretty decent as well. the price was excellent compared to the competition. i'm considering buying a used one in the next year or so. i'm in no hurry and there are a lot of nice cars out there. the last gen toyotas and hondas are so bland and the nissans so ugly.
maybe i'll be patient and find an old mr2. they are fun to drive!

Make sure you have whatever you buy inspected before you sign anything.

thx for the pics......everything has to be inspected, especially little road rockets. i see quite a few around my area here on the wet coast. some by older drivers. they are a lot of fun to drive.

Hopefully, you never have to do any major engine repairs. It is tough to get to and very labour intensive.
