Considering one of the following as my next car; Pontiac/Mazda/Saturn.
I know that the Sky is not currently available, but hoping maybe someone has some insight information.
Do any of MX-5 or Soltice owners regret purchasing the car? Can you suggest anything that I should inquire or specifically look for when test driving or researching these cars?
Must have's vs. do with outs ????
Suggestions, recommendations, pros' or cons' - any news - please advise.
Thanks

MX5 is a fantastic machine- a true drivers car thats light and quick. My review of the 2006 should be up soon.
Though I havent tried the solstice, I would have trouble expecting it to be as good.

Look at it this way. The MX-5 (Miata) is the original. The Solstice and the Sky are imitations.
The MX-5, like the Pritchmeister says is completely out of this World. The Miata was even more involving to drive. My 5-car dream garage without a doubt includes an MX-5 (Mazdaspeed as soon as it is available).
From what I can tell, the GMs are not as nimble or driver oriented as the Mazda. Nor is it faster but it is more comfortable. Steering is not as precise nor are the brakes as strong. From all the reviews I have read or seen on the comparison of both cars, most prefer the Mazda but there are still a fair number of journalists that would take the GM home.
Everything else about these cars are a matter of personal preference especially in the looks department.
I say (as always), test drive both and purchase the one you prefer. Both represent enormous compromises and limited utility.
I have not driven a Solstice but I have a hard time imagining it being as focused as the MX-5...

I appreciate all the information.
At this point I prefer the Saturn SKY for its looks, the MX-5 for its performance and the Soltice for the price.
Any additional information would be great as I continue with all my reseach.

jimmy......from what i've read, the sky/solstice twins basically have no trunk space.....not enough for golf clubs :(

Seems I like the look of the "Sky" and "Solstice" but really nothing seems to be like good ol MX5.
MX5 has a trunk which I think is important for travels on the road. This car holds to the road like nothing else.... its GS package rocks with DCS and limited Slip Differential.
The price is a bit higher but at least we know MAZDA will be around for a long time for service......

Jimmy, try 'em all (not such a tough assignment) and make up your own mind. A lot of people seem to prefer the Mazda, but I've seen web posters who like the Solstice better. I prefer the looks of the GM pair.

I guess I will just have to test them all out. Which like ghog said is "not such a tough assignment".
Unfortunately, too much snow to test drive these vehicles as of today. I will have to wait until spring for the Soltice and MX5. From what I understand the Sky is scheduled to be released late summer early fall (correct me if I am wrong).
So, Zoom Zoom the way to go with the MX5 is the GS package. I also like the look of the Sky - the best.
Decisions, decisions.

Just came from the Montreal Autoshow and saw the Sky right after the Soltice and the SKY kills both the Soltice and the Miata in looks. Now all that is left to see is how it compares in perfomance.

I sat in the MX-5, founf the streering wheel in the wrong position
also when we tried to close the roof I need a touch to cut a cross member so my head will fit.
I have talk to people who are tall then me and said they fit find.
I find a Z3 or Z4 is what I fit in the best
