Just for some opinions folks.
I dont want to start any fights here, cause I know this can be a touchy subject and you Subaru fans are really a loyal and fiesty bunch.
Im doing this "shootout" article between the 06 models of Mazdaspeed 6 and WRX and would like anyones input who has either driven both, considered both or has some interest in both.
This week Im driving the MS6, and I spent the day friday in a WRX wagon. Ive got to say, being my first Subaru drive, I wasnt impressed. I found the WRX to ride rough, have a fairly cheap interior, sparse on options, not THAT quick and really it just didnt have the quality feel to it that the Mazda did. If Im not mistaken, the Mazda is faster too. Its got leather, a sunroof, a gorgeous stereo system, and a slew of hard to find or impossible to find goodies that set it apart. In the Subaru, you apparently cant even get leather!
Their prices are so close too- but the Subaru, as far as Im concerned, is short a gear, a stereo system, a sunroof, a bit of head and leg room, and the list goes on. It does have some things going for it- for instance there is less turbolag than the Mazda which suffers from a whole lot of it.
But all in all, I returned the WRX wondering who would buy one after trying the Mazdaspeed 6 as well. It seems a much more full and complete car, though the prices indicate otherwise. Is Subaru's rally winningness and initial invention of AWD worth a lot of money or something?
