Good day \ evening \ night you all.

I am searching around for any info I’m able to find on the Ford Ranger 2006, as I was thinking for making a ‘buy’ sometime this year(2006). I have looked at other makes/models/types and I keep coming back to the Ranger. This is due to a number of reasons I guess. 1-Fule mileage (better then full size trucks) 2-live in the country (truck has its uses) 3- cost vs. other models (Ranger wins) 4- has nice standard options
But I’m having a hard time find Written Reviews of Road Tests + Owners Reviews. Wonder if anyone has ever owned a Ranger or currently owns one, and what they can tell me about them from a drivers point of view???

Thanks and cheers

The reason you will not find any new truck reviews is because the Ranger / Mazda B-Series is LARGELY unchanged since the early 90s. What I can tell you is that the Ranger is fairly reliable but most importantly, if there is a Ford dealer near your home (if you live way out in the country), this could THE reason to buy the Ranger over any import. I would select the Ranger over the Canyon or Colorado also.

LARGELY unchanged since the early 90s
Is this a good thing or not??
I know when people talk about VW, Wiring problems also come up, heck I have a friend who was driving home form work and smoke start comming from his dash, a short developed in the wires. Is there anything issus like that, which the Ranger may be known for???

(any info would be super, just doing my homework to cover my bases)

Cheers

I had a '94 Ranger that I kept around for gardening and cottage chores. Bought it cheap, battered and abused and kept it on the road for five years at minimal expense. The 2.3-litre 4 is not exactly a powerhouse, but it does the job and is extremely tough and reliable. It's an old design, so it could be roomier and more comfortable, especially the standard cab, which was almost too small for me (I'm 6'1", 220). I junked my Ranger just last month because it needed some costly repairs, was taking up too much space in the driveway, and I found I wasn't using it much. It served me well, though. It's a proven design, and all the other "compact" trucks have grown so much that the Ranger pretty much has the small size category to itself. If that's all you need, why pay for more? It's a good little truck.

Excellent. Thank you.

Now again keeping with the Ranger, but looking at the issue of ‘buying’ the auto industry brings out the new model in, what is it October?? So in 2006(this year) the 2007 are available. Is it still possible after that time (once the new models are out) to still buy the 2006 model? + in general is buy the new 2007 in 2006 a good idea?

You can buy whatever you want as long as the vehicle is still on the dealer's lot. It makes no difference when you buy. If you wait though, you might get a better deal on the outgoing model.
