View Full Version : premium vs regular fuel
I heard somewhere that the V6 rav4 requires premium fuel. Is this correct?
Or do I have a choice as to which type of fuel to use?
Also, if I choose to use regular and then fill up on premium, will that adversely affect my vehicle?

Couldn't find out the requirements for the Toyota. In Canada the AKI measurement is whats used. The manufacturers seem to not like to divulge the fuel required on their websites. The vehicle has a 60 litre tank, that works out to $6.00 per tank extra if you have to run premium. I would test drive the 4 cylinder first, unless you are towing heavy loads, the 4 bangers are more than adequate these days..lots of power.

In the Avalon, the same 3.5L can run on regular however premium is recommended for top performance. I think that every new Toyota (Lexus) with this engine will have the same recommendations.

Your best idea is to head over to the dealship and asked a sales rep or just ask to have a fast read over the owners book, it will say in there. There is a good posts in Maintenace and Repairs Forum here:
91 Octane versus 94
