Folks i am hell confuse which one i sould go for.
Toyota and VW has finance for 3.9% and Honda for 6.95%
all 3 cars has almost same fuel economy.
currenty i drive TDI and now i compare fuel math comes to almost same.
i drive almost 120 KM a day and TDI was Good but disel price now is more expensive then Gas and i have no intension to keep Car for 10 years. like most TDI people do. Been there done that getting sick of driving same machine every day for 10 years. althoguh its reliable never gave me hard time but need shop visit to keep it tip top condition.
my questions are...
1) Does Honda has Cash price for Civic if i dont take thier finance?
2) Does Honda and Toyota has Timing belt or Chain?
3) What is fuel stats in real world for Honda and toyota on Highway?
4) How would you rate all 3 if you have choice to buy?
5) I have 97 VW jetta TD with 139K what should i get trade inn?

your feedback is highly appriciated.

I don't blame you wanting a new car, but even with more expensive diesel fuel costs (and it's only marginally more expensive) the TDI would still get way better mileage than a gasoline engine.

1) Does Honda has Cash price for Civic if i dont take thier finance?
Even with finance kickbacks between car dealers and financial institutions, you should be able to negotiate a cash price. Alternately, if you think you will get a better financed price, take it and then pay it off the next month (or next week for that matter) with your intended payment method

2) Does Honda and Toyota has Timing belt or Chain?
I believe the Civic has a timing chain, but can't recall if the Corolla does as well.

3) What is fuel stats in real world for Honda and toyota on Highway?
Sorry - I have no actual experience here - but it'll be less than the Transport Canada reported efficiency ratings.
4) How would you rate all 3 if you have choice to buy?
I love the Jetta - even with it's new Corolla style looks - it's bigger than the Toyota, and better appointed imo. Having said that, I think that, given the choice, for me, it would be between the Civic and the TDI. I like the higher levels of trim available on the VW - you can't get leather, for example, in the Civic (unless you spend another $6K and go with an Acura CSX).
5) I have 97 VW jetta TD with 139K what should i get trade inn?
Diesels are still quite popular in the resale marketplace. If you sell privately, you would get a better price, but it can sometimes take longer and is a bit more of a hassle for some people. I would do a search on autotrader.ca and that will give you a good sense of what prices are being asked for these vehicles right now.

Good luck.

Sold our 2001 Golf TDI easily for $14,500 last Saturday with the intention of getting a Honda Accord EX 5 spd, after my wife sat in a 2006 Jetta TDI everything changed, we know the Honda is a better car, no argument there, but it felt compromised interior build wise and handling (Japanese vs Euro suspension) Bought a TDI, 5-spd, gray with leather and a few extras, we will only keep the car 3 or 4 years and the warranty is 4 yrs, bumper to bumper, 1 better than most ('cause they have to try harder?)

Sell your '97 TDI privately will do better if it is in good shape.

We have had our 2006 Jetta TDI for two weeks now and have 1600k on it, no suprises, it's really tight and far more Audiesque than our 2001, we considered the Honda EXR (same price) but even knowing the VW's foibles we just liked driving it so much more. The torque is addicting

I would consider the Corolla first, Civic second and VW last. VW has a history of electrical problems which are indicated in the lastest Annual Car Issue of Consumer Reports.

The TDI is the only VW worth owning altough consumer reports crusify volks wagon they have actually never rated the TDI My nephew gets up to 70 MPG with his and yet it is still very peppy if they had and allwheel drive tdi I would have bought it
Personally as a small sedan or wagon I think it is the BEST thing out there
