Well, just out of curiosity we tested a Mazda6 wagon because we have an old Honda Accord wagon that we use for everything and everyone and we wanted to see how it would compare to our 2003 Honda Accord LX-G. I really liked the sportiness and feel of the Mazda6, the engine sounded great to me, the power was a huge jump over the Accords 165hp and the manual trans was smooth. We found the interior to be simple and clean and we liked it.

So the question now, is it worth trading in the Accord? We have every intention of keeping it forever but to tell you the truth I think the decision to buy it instead of another family sedan was not thoroughly researched. I also want to add that the car seems boring as hell, no character, and thus I have little confidence in it. But does it really make sense to dump the Honda brandname for something with a little more excitement, and more space? Is it really worth sacrificing the fuel economy too? And do Mazdas now have quality and reliability?

On another note, does anyone know what the towing capacity (if it can tow) of the Mazda6 is? the website has nothing

Well - you can be assured that this question will open up a real interesting discussion amongst the forum members.

I would suspect that the Mazda 6 isn't really built to tow per se, but likely has the same capacity as most mid-sized sedans - around 500 kilos or so. While it is plain, the Accord does have a good solid reputation, and if you don't have any issues with your current wagon, then why would you want to get rid of it? Financially, it's way smarter to keep the Accord - you know the car, it's quirks and it's advantages. Even though the Mazda 6 is a great vehicle (thank-you Mazda for giving us another sportwagon option in Canada) you will be putting out more $$ per month.

I can't say what I would do in your shoes - there is nothing like a new car - but I have had so many of them now (we trade in usually every 3-4 years) it's starting to be less and less of a fad for me.
