Hello All,

Your expert opinions are greatly appreciated. Well...I pulled a bonehead move  over the weekend coming out of our garage and broke the passenger mirror and cracked the plastics surrounding the mirror (2 small pieces) on my 2005 Kia Spectra.

I went to the dealership and was given two options. I could spend $68 on a new mirror and have it popped in and fix the plastics or spend $400+ to have the mirror replaced completely.

The two broken pieces can be fixed easily with a good adhesive. But I'm thinking $68 for a new mirror is a bit excessive.

Wondering if you guys can help with the following two questions:

1.) Anywhere in York Region/Toronto that I can pick up the mirror for cheaper myself?

2.) What would be a good adhesive to fix the two broken pieces? I can repaint myself and make it look great.

Thanks again for all your help....

I did the very same thing 4 vehicles back on a brand new Grand Caravan. After several attempts at repair with adhesives, etc. (and considerable grief and some expense) I ended up going back to the dealer and having a new mirror installed.

The mirror itself is shattered and will definitely be replaced. It's the casing around the mirror that is the issue.

Then I would pony up the $$ and be done with it. Expensive lesson, but I bet you will be much more careful backing out of the garage in future - I know that I learned my lesson.

I didn't think they had parts for newer cars

Might be able to find a 'totalled' model with the right part though.
