The Elements interior is better design than any SUV but it has a Very Small engine not Gutless but NOT POWERFULL and cant tow anything
the fj crizer is a proven drivetrain very powerfull OK FUEL ECONOMY BUT INTERIOR SPACE A LITTLE LAME
THE CRUIZER FOR THE NEXT YEAR WOULD HAVE INCREDIBLE RESALE
THE ELEMENT will be better than most but as a hiway car has a pretty small motor running high rpm we keep cars ten years so
the practicality of the space in the element is pretty battactive and the full time all wheel drive system is pretty good the Automatic FJ is part time 4 wheel ( We prefer Full time)
any thoughts on the future for the 07 elements perhaps a bigger engine choice? then I could get the FJ now and possibly get MOST All of our mony back in 6 months as the FJ is in SHORT supply

I wouldn't call these vehicles direct competitors at all. The Toyota is a backroad/offroad truck. The Element is just a tall, odd-looking car. The only thing they have in common is cartoonish styling.
