Hi,

I am looking into the Toyota Matrix. I am not sure which trim is better. The base with the TRD option or the XR model. Does anyone have the base with the TRD option Matrix? I still have to get the price and quote with the TRD option from the dealer, since it is not shown online. Does anyone know how much it is to add the TRD option with the base model?

Any comments is appreciated. Thanks.

www.toyota.ca will give you the ability to price out your vehicle. Remember, this is based on MSRP only and will not reflect what kind of deal you might be able to secure.

I tested a TRD model recently. My review might help.

Thanks for your review General!

If I were to go for the TRD version, can I add the Power Windows option for the car?

Unlike American manufacturers, Japanese and European auto manufacturers tend to package their features - so if the TRD list doesn't show electric windows, you are out of luck. Having said this, I thought that the base unit had electric windows? Since the TRD is simply a package added to the base car I believe you will find that it comes with electric windows.

Which one is the better buy? The Base Model with the TRD package or the XR model? Their price is comparative to one another, but the only draw back for the TRD is that it doesn't have the power window and cruise control.

Any thoughts or comments is appreciated.

Thanks! :)

This is pretty much a goobers vs raisinettes question. Personally, I wouldn't be without cruise control or power windows. Many people don't mind not having them - but not me. Personally, I like the XRs the best because of the 4 wheel disk brakes, but that comes at a price - which is some torque steer that can be problematic when matched with the manual transmission.

Notwithstanding, if it were my $$, I'd go with the XR B package as I am a sucker for a sunroof even with it's added weight. The 4wd option is good to. I might consider a Vibe simply because I could get leather seating which is not available in the Matrix much to my chagrin.

Good luck.
