On my 2003 Accord V6, the back light for the central display (clock/stereo/HVAC) burned out shortly after warranty expired. Everything works, except I can't see anything. The only thing that Honda can do is to take it off, send it out for repair and charge about $300 for it. It takes 2 weeks.

Researching on the Web discovers that Honda US pays for this repair for the customers who complain, even if out of warranty, because it is a common defect. But a call to Honda Canada customer service got the same response as the dealer: I'm out of luck if it's out of warranty.

I think it's a rip off to replace some LED or lightbulb for $300 and it takes two weeks.

Does anyone out there have a better experience than mine?

THE AUDIO SYSTEM WAS MADE BY PANASONIC, THERE IS A KNOWN FAULT,,,WE SEE MANY GO, ULTIMATLY LEAVE DASH BLANK, SO THERE IS NO HEATER DISPLAY, AUDIO DISPLAY ETC ALTHOUGH EVERYTHING WORKS AS IT SHOULD. I WOULD CONTACT HONDA CANADA, IF THIS FAILS, THE UNIT CAN BE REPAIRED BY PANASONIC CANADA, YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT REMOVED FIRST AS THEY ONLY FIX THE UNIT AND DON'T DO THE RE/RE. 905-625-6638
