How do you modify the engine or car parts of your car so it will consume less gas? I would appreciate if someone can provide me with some useful modification tips. Thanks in advance.

I think customizing the car properly could do wonders in case someone would like to safe fuel for their car.

First off, what car do you have?

if you would like to save fuel, you can get a cold air intake, Saves gas while adding horsepower. What it does is it lets air get into the engine more freely in term using less gas to power the engine.

But really its all about driving style.
try not to fluctuate in pedal movement, if you have a manual car or a sport automatic, keep the higher gears as possible, close your windows after 50km, remove as much weight from the trunk!

1.Actually BMW's Make better MPG|L/100km then a 1.8L nissan or ''Earth friendly'' Saturn engine.

2.I make 28MPG on my 2005 325i
While a new 2010 ford Taurus makes 28MPG, And it wont even get near the performance of the bmw engine.

3. there is more then 1 alpina lol.
I'm guessing he has the 7 series because the z8 alpina makes very good MPG's

Here's a thing about BMW!

Before the car goes into production they make sure there is no performance robbing parts.

Performance robing parts also mean less MPG.

So while Honda owners get performance exhaust that add 10HP and air intakes that add 5HP and get better MPG

We BMW owners will get no performance gain.
So do not modify, especially since its an alpina Alpina's are special and should be kept Original.

What you can do to save gas is roll up your windows.
Make sure your tires are pumped up good and equally on every corner.
get rid of weight from the trunk. (Extra tire cases of water etc)
Make sure your Maintenance is done (engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, Put some fuel injector cleaner in there, ETC.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: skipping out on putting 91octane+ in your BMW will not save you money, your MPG will go up because the extra fuel used, Also you may get knocks coming from the engine from early combustion.

Hmm, true dat.

So if i look up the Tuned 4.8L ///M engine.

you get around 14 / 21 mpg with the z8 alpina.

not too good for our times nowadays.

So yea just take my advise Maintenance and Tire pressure Keep the roof up and windows.

I am also very jealous that you own a 120 000$~ Alpina, keep it for a long time the price on it will always go up! ;)

I would understand the owner of a Z8 Alpina wanting to improve its fuel consumption over environmental concerns (maybe to improve his public image or something). But for money in the pocket, I have a hard time believing this.
