Why would you say that Mercedes-Benz is "reluctant to renew with diesel in North America"? In addition to three SUV diesel models, MB has offered a diesel E Class in North America since 2005 and the E320 Bluetec diesel has been a strong seller in Canada for the past two years.Maybe you should test drive an E320 Bluetec ! You would soon discover, as I have, that no other mid-sized car sold in North America offers this unique combination of luxury, performance, handling, comfort and fuel economy.BMW is a relative latecomer to diesel compared to Mercedes, which introduced their first oil burner more than 75 years ago.
