For years, Audi's 'T' designation stood for 'turbocharged'-- but the German automaker has begun defying its own nomenclature by applying it to cars motivated by a new supercharged V6. Drive one of the resulting vehicles, and you'll have to explain to your friends how a supercharger is technically a belt-driven turbo, and that the Germans use the terms interchangeably.

Having been seduced by a 'just off the truck' test drive, and being (then) relatively flush with cash, I leased a lovely '02 S6 Avant for a couple of years. It was a great 'sleeper' family sports car, but I had a few (nit-picky) issues:1) It handled great for a two-ton car, but used a hop-sideways-on-tar-strip-and hurt-your-lower-back-stiff suspension to do it.2) It sucked premium like a sport-SUV.3) The 340 hp V8 didn't get 'on cam' until 3200 rpm (about 145 km/hr) and then, like a good autobahn cruiser, felt like it wanted to zip up to 250 km/hr and stay there!4) Every kid in a dressed-up Integra (and one mad tractor-trailer driver) considered me a challenge and an affront to their very existence.5) At about twice the price of our family Volvo turbo wagon, the S6 wasn't nearly twice the car.Since then, I have watched the S6 go 'up market' (and lose the wagon), and the S4 Avant disappear as well. The new supercharged V6 seems like a great engine but, until Audi puts it into an Avant, I'll be shopping used V70 Rs!

About the audi just few words :design, technology, style. What a nice car moving or not.Hello kccm. If you want to buy a '' R series '' from Volvo have it thoroughly check. They are the most unreliable and capricious cars I've seen or even heard of. For this reason, on the other hand, they have one of the fastest depreciation on the market. So you should be able to find one at low cost You should be able to find a 2004 with low mileage between 15k and 20k ( in 2004 they were sold around 65k almost the same price than a brand new A6 ) Find a good mechanic and good luck!!

well, the audi would be my personal choice, though I've always loved the look of the R-series volvos.. I believe, KCCM, that you can get the 3.0T engine in wagon form.. Im pretty sure a co-worker was driving one of these a few months back...but go test - drive the 3.0T anyhow.. you'll be very impressed..what an engine! Pritch
