Default 2001 cavalier z24

Does anyone have a 2001 manual z24? If so, are you like me and have problems with it. For starters, the top of the dashboard rattles a lot, but i think every GM cars do. Then I have the transmission which i think will need a recall. It makes an electric screwdriver sound between 1000 and 2000 rpm. The dealer told me GM had issued a bulletin ordering their personel not to open the transmission since it was a defect or something. But is that true that all 2001 z24 have this. Or is it just that my dealer is too lazy to do his job! If you have a 2001 z24, or know someone and have these smaller or bigger defects, can you let me know? I would like some feedback. Thank you

Well Frankyboy,

My Wife has the same manual transmission in her 2000 Sunfire and has a raddles that happens around 1000 - 2000 RPM sounding like the heat shield is loose. It is a defect in the tramsmission, but one that does not effect the workings of the transmission. My dealership told me that GM has not issued any changes as of yet and I will have to live with it until then. You could get the Trany fluid changed but it will be a short lived fix. I must admitt though that that particular GETRAG transmission is one of the smoothest I have ever driven from GM. Its to bad it has that annouying raddle.

Here is the bulletin #
02-07-29-001 FEB 02 M/T - Grinding/Rattling Noise

If anyone can get their hands on it, it would be great.
