BOth are great and both are pretty much the same car...practically.

My parents have a 1993 VIGOR. I was 19 at the time that they got it. I'm now 31.

SInce then, they had to change the mufflier once. Change the brakes..
and nothing else...A little bit of rust here and there but that`s basically it.

THe car after 12 years...is still a beauty to drive. I find the front leg room a little crammed but seriously the VIGOR is an awsome car. Like I said, even today after 12 years I find it still a treat to drive. It hasn`t lost a step and is still as quiet as when they got it.

The Accord of course is nice too...but go for the VIGOR. There aren`t too many VIGORS for sale. People tend to keep them.

Just asking out of curiosity:

Are the Acura parts easy to find and reasonably priced?

I'm just thinking that, with so few sales, they would be harder to get and more expensive.

Sorry I didn`t reply until now. As far as I know my parents haven`t had any majour issues. Just the muffler...actually...twic now...they had to change it again...but the car was bought in 1992. that`s 13 years old.

I remember my father telling me that most of the engine parts are the same on the HONDA ACCORD of that generation.....and I think the LEGEND as well. They`ve never had any problems obtaining parts but then again...they hardly ever have problems.

I`m telling you. Even today...that car is a beauty to drive. I`m not too big on the EL since they are just an overpriced CIVIC..but their higher end cars last very long. Smooth and quite as can be.

Default 92 accord EX-R or 92 vigor GS

hi there ,

If you are hesitating between them , it's actually very simple if you want to go in that year range , i tell you [b]ACCORD all the way ,you ask why?
it has a very successfull 2.2 litres honda engine that is very economical
yet very powerfull for a 4 cylindre and there are so many that you can find parts for it allmost anywhere etc......
As for the allmost 13 year old 5 cylindre engine vigor GS , because people tend to keep them for so long you might have a hard time finding parts for it , look don't get me wrong the VIGOR is a beautifull and very luxurious car but if you don't get your hands on one that was very and i mean very well maintained chances are you might have to deal with a lot of defective electrical gadgets . when bying an older car simplicity is the best the less gadgets the better ,so in my book the ACCORD gets two thumbs up .

PS: if ever you were lookimg into the 1.6 EL base (SPORT) compare to civic ,has a V.TEC engine and comes fully loaded standard as for the PREMIUM 1.6 edition comes with leather , roof , heated seats etc...
i would go for it ,no hesitation they are very very good and reliable cars .

Bottom line they are all HONDA 's and that's a good choice .

Good luck chopping

I had a CIVIC SI 1998. Great car. Two years later I wanted a 4 door and went for the Acura 1.6 EL. Horrible car.

yes. it comes with all the grat luxurious items that a Civic doesn`t come with. But that car has a vtec engine..which means you have 127 horsepower when you rev the car and the RPMs reach over 4500....but the torque on that car is still 105...which is totally not enough for all the quality and luxurious items that make the weight of the EL far greater than the CIVIC.

My bottom line. ACURA/HOnda`s are all great...all good value...
One exception...ACURA 1.6 EL.
Reliable yes...but you`ll be so dissapointed in it`s performance.

My mom drives a Powder Blue 1996 Accord. Its automatic and has been driven (hard) by both me and my brother when we would use the car. Neither me or him were ever very polite to that car... abusive maybe. (Boys will be boys)

It now has 270 kms on it....and in its life, the only non-maintenance cost it needed was a rad hose.

Food for Thought.
