Default demand for cars

I need a sort of advice. I am doing research which cars are in biggest demand in Canada, I mean which cars people are looking for to buy (used). Are there any web sites where I could get that kind of information?
Thanks for help.

Default Research on demand: a moving target.

Take it from another researcher. The question is everything, and it's not always what it seems. So if you're doing it for someone else it becomes especially difficult unless you can communicate directly with the client.

Everyone wants to buy cars that are in demand, unless they are looking for a depreciation on true value. Make up a measure for the type of demand you're looking for and then you can find something that comes closest. The meaningless statistics that are sometimes collected drive me crazy.

You know a lot of the older roadsters are in demand. I have a friend who fixes them up and sells them. But that is relative to the supply at that given selling price. I don't think you can look at demand without considering price, or controlling for it.

The marketing researchers make a living at this type of thing. I would take a peek at measures they use. They know how many cars to make based on the supply and they know how to manipulate demand by 0% financing etc.

To make it simple, you just need to keep the price constant and look at sales figures. motoringtv.com publishes a sales figure site by a research firm.

Just know what you really want to find out, and
Good luck

I would have to agree. I do research on the side and you would really have to meet with the client, or at least be in contact with them to really figure out what they need. But there are a lot of car sites out there and you only need google to help you get through them. Good luck from a fellow researcher and car junkie!
