Default OLDS ALERO FUEL MILEAGE

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A NEW OLDS ALERO 2 DOOR, 2.2 5 SPD, AND I AM HAVING A REAL PROBLEM WITH FUEL MILEAGE. I AM GETTING, AT BEST, 350 KMS PER TANK, WHICH WORKS OUT TO 23MPG. THIS IS UNREAL FOR A FOUR CYL. CAR. I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL AT 1500 KMS, AND I NOW HAVE 2100 KMS ON IT. THIS IS NOT DUE TO BREAK IN AS THE DEALER WOULD LIKE TO BLAME IT ON. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

Default Gas mileage

How much are you traveling daily in your car? Short trips will really suck back the gas. Also the dealer ship is right. Some cars do require a good break in. I cannot comment about your car but give it a chance. I've owned two new cars some time ago (Honda) and it did make a difference once it broke in. The mileage increased about 10 mpg on the highway and about 3mpg in the city.
If a computer diagnostics hasn't found anything I suspect that there isn't anything is wrong with your car.

Hope it helps.
