Korean performance? /Mazda3/ Corolla supercharger

ok you can get a K&N filtercharger for a Hyundai Elantra; I loved it on a previous car (heavy breathing, really), but hated when the oil change ?mechanics? threw it out to replace it with a paper filter. UUHH, was I mad. Anyhow about $70 to replace

I wanted to look for a performance exhaust, esp when I had to replace the exhaust manifold, but suspect there wouldn't have been any that were made to fit. But then after 170,000 km, my exhaust is sounding as sporty as those of the new Elantras, and performance matching sound. So replacement with a Mazda3? But needs a freer flow with a mellow note.--exhaust wise.--if you like silence leave as is.

Who is going to make the 3's "Auspuffer" out-puffer? Any ideas?

I think I'm going to wait to check out the improved Corolla, with an approved supercharger for the 170 ponies, I'll be great; if it will outdo the
low torque on the optional Celica/XRS engine,--no problemo. But unless that seat height adjustment works as well as that in the Accord or Elantra, it's off my list (if I still cn't reach the steering wheel.

And then the detuned Mazda3's 2.3l engine in the new Focus just coming out in 5spd only--they better have gotten rid of that center armrest (as they did for the SVT), but now it's in the domestic scene, because we're not getting the Euro Focus--Good for Mazda.

Any wonder the latter have got #1 sales, outgunning the Ontario Honda Civic. I had to look at the Civic again today. No, the 3 does not match that Honda gearbox, --that was enough to have me drop in on the Honda dealership today. The reviews don't tell you the Mazda's shifter throws are longer than for an Elantra, and double-cone synchonizers don't hurt a bit.

TIP: if you have an older manual Elantra, change the transmission oil after 80k--shifts turn buttersmooth. (it's not on the maintenance schedule, but worth the $47)

Toyota 1.8-liter TRD supercharger, for Corollas and Matrix' with the 130-hp engine:
For $4,800 you end up with 166 hp @ 6,800 rpm and 145 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm.
