Default To smart or not to smart?

Well, it has been almost 2 weeks since first smarts have arrived to North America. What is you attitude towards these tiny beasts? Would you buy one?

Well I wouldn't buy one because I don't think it's a very good value, price compared to practicality, but hey why not! I saw one the other night on the road, it's quite refreshing to see something else than the usual boxy cars... and 40 HP just doesn't cut it for me ! heehee

I would buy one in specific circumstances. If I lived and worked in the city and, on occasion, made a 30 minute drive to mom's house. Otherwise, living 25 km away from work where I have to cross 2 main highways, I prefer to take my little VW. Now, if SUVs over 5000 lbs were made illegal and more people purchased cars such as the smart, you could count me in.

I really wouldn't mind owning one, my only reservation being its limited hill-climbing grunt. There's a few fairly stiff grades in my area.

Actually, the 19.8 seconds to 100 km/hr doesn't really concern me, as I wouldn't be planning to take it on any freeways. As for smaller highways, if the vehicles behind me don't like my slow acceleration - tough. I'm making 90 mpg!

Once you get to the top of the hill, call your friends, get 4 or 5 of them to jump in the smart and start back down the hill. Guaranteed you'll do 0-100 km/h in less than 18 seconds.
