Default prepare to give back lease

Can anyone suggest where and how much is it to get Elantra VE 2001 touched up on paints and small dents before I return the vehicle back. It is schedule to be returned to Financial Linx on 04/01/05 but I want to give it back before Jan 15/05 that's when my insurance policy expires. I also went over the kilometer alloted during the lease. What can I expect as pending charges?
Thanks all...

Not good...

Get an estimated from a bodyshop before you get the work done... unless it really needs to be done. I would suggest you contact the APA (416-204-1444) to get some info about a garage and advice about getting out of your lease.

What I can tell you is that the remaining 3 months will have to be paid. Your excess mileage will also have to paid and because of the combination of the damage and the extra kms, the car's residual value will not reflect the condition of your car. I would find out what you owe and try and sell the car for close to what you owe as possible. This option will probably cost you less.

Good luck.

It's a gamble. Some dents will be ignored by the manufacturer, bigger ones will be charged. If a dent has exposed metal or cracked paint, or if it is bigger than 1 inch wide or so, you better get it fixed.

Also, if the tires are pretty worn, they will charge you for them. You can check out scrap yards and buy used tires for a low price that are half-worn and will pass inspection, or get the cheapest ones at Wal-Mart or Costco. If you turn in a car that has bald tires, they will charge you for new tires (and not the cheapest ones) and labor.

The creditor will mandate an inspector that definitely has a different perception than us of what "normal wear" is.

You can try to sell the car yourself, but be aware you also have to pay tax on your lease paid-out.
