Default Used cars from Quebec crap?

I just found out recently that any used vehicles should be treated highly supsect, as many of them are salvaged vehicles.

So don't buy any used automobiles there (any truth to it?)

There is much truth to it but it should not be a reason not to buy a used car. What is important to do is get the car inspected prior to the purchase by a third party. Find out as much as possible about the car before hand as well.

Get the VIN, go to the MOT or SAAQ and get a history report. Test drive the car. Buyer beware is the key.

Many cars are "scrapped" and rebuilt. To avoid huge headaches, you can contact the APA for a garage for an inspection.

Default shopping in quebec

Hi there fellow ontarioan , they told you all wrong because actually it is a great opportunity for you to shop in quebec because of the great number of dealers present here ,and believe me there is a lot , you can find practically any make model color mileage etc etc....... and sometimes at a fraction of the price that you pay in toronto , i know i am a dealer myself and i deal with a lot of ontario dealers that come here to buy cars because they know its cheaper , besides there is one thing you should know here ,is that when a car is declared salvage in quebec and by salvage i mean VGA (VEHICULE GRAVELY ACCIDENTED) OR RECONTRUIT ( VEHICULE REBUILD ) there is no way to hide it because following the repairs the car has to go through a goverment (DMV) structural and mechanical inspection witch will automatically be writen on the registration of the vehicule ,there is no way around it , so one of the steps when shooping a car in quebec is to inspect the vehicule at a certified dealer and you might want to ask to see the registration ,in case there is a declaration on the car it will show right under the serial number on the registration otherwise called the ( TITLE ) .

for further info please do not hesitate to contact me via e.mail at

Good luck shopping

Unfortunately, there are ways of "tricking" the system to avoid getting the VGA note indicated on the Quebec registration papers. There are large issues between the provinces when it comes to this situation. Carmag is right about the prices but make sure the car is worth it in the end.

Again, the independent inspection is a must before signing anything.
