Default re. 2001 Honda Odyssey LE

Hi !!

I need some suggestion. I have bought Honda ODYSSEY. I went for the test drive, the Steering Wheel is bit shaky. I asked the Sales man to get it fixed. It has just 62000 KM on it

The front tires looks original and a bit work out, a friend of mine says that the steering wheel is shaky just because the tires are work out.

THERE WAS NO OTHER NOISE

Can someone please reply to me if they had any similar issues with any van. Just concerned if it is just the tires or can be anything else too?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Well, the shaking could come from a bad-balanced tire, or a damaged wheel rim, or maybe the tires are just too worn out or flat-spotted.

Before you buy, get it inspected by another garage or, better yet, a Honda dealer. They will probably be able to tell you if a wheel or tire is the problem for the shaking.

Since the basic warranty is over (3 years/60,000 km), I strongly suggest you get it inspected before purchase, just like any other used car.

Default Thanks -- 2001 Odyssey

I realy thank you for the Reply.

Actually this VAN I bought is from a HONDA Dealer. They have assurad me that they will fix the problem. Also, if the tires are below the safe limit (too worn out), they will change it for me.

I was just worried if it is balancing / Tires oR THERE CAN BE ANOTHER SEVERE ISSUE for a 62K van Single Owner. I checked at CARFAX no accidents, original mileage.

The dealer also provided m ewith the Dealer association report showing no accidents.

PLEASE REPLY !! Is it something to worry about -- It is a HONDA DEALER

Well, if you're buying it at a Honda dealer, I think it's a safe bet. Will they get it fixed before you sign the contract?

Default 2001 - Honda Odyssey

They have assured me that they will fix it . I am picking it up today. I will check it before I give them the Chq.

I am just worried if it is something which they can fix temporarily and can come back afterwards. I am not getting any Extended warranty.

Is it fine this way?

Personally, I don't think they will ruin their reputation for a car with shaky steering.

When someone trades in a vehicle at a dealership, if the car is not A-1, the dealer will simply send it to the auction. If the car is top shape, if it's been maintained at that dealership with service records and everything, they will keep it and sell it themselves, just like they seem to be doing with that Odyssey.

I think it's just a tire problem...

Please don't take it to a Canadian Tire if the vibration persists. Take the van to an indenpendant garage (have it inspected while you are there). I would suggest that you insists in having the tires replaced; ideally all 4 if you can. Otherwise, have them change 2 and pay for the other 2.

Our 1993 Honda Accord has done the steering wheel vibrations for years, and its got 425,000 on it. Just as long as we are talking the same think, this vibration in ours happens when you are at a stop, or in park I think.

(sigh)

It seems they just don't make 425,000 km cars anymore...! :3d-crying:
