Default I hate Montreal!

So I was in Montreal last Tuesday night and parked my '91 Accord in a very nice (read: disgusting) neighborhood. I had left a soft breifcase on the passenger seat, which wasn't the best idea I had that day. So at 10:30 PM when I got back to my car, driver-side front window smashed into a zillion pieces all over the cockpit, and my bag was gone. CD player was still there, and a half-dozen CDs lying on the passenger seat were also left untouched.

At 10:50, I phoned 911 and they said to go to the nearest police station, but to hurry up because it was closing in 10 minutes!! Whaaaat? A cop shop that CLOSES?

I brushed off the shattered glass on my driver's seat, a few friends of mine helped me tape a transparent plastic bag over the window frame, I put the rear rubber floor mat on the seat cusion to sit on, and I headed for home.

The next day, I phoned up a dozen scrap yards and found a used window for $50. I then went to a garage near my home where they installed it for another $50. While I was expecting to shell out $300-400 for the replacement, I was lucky and got off for only a hundred bucks.

My cell phone was in my stolen bag, as was my T4 slips. Now I probably have to change my social security number, which is a lenghty and complicated process.

The moral of the story? When you park your car in a big city like Montreal, or any other metropolitain area for that matter, don't leave anything lying around in the car that could interest the most filthiest of lowlifes. It didn't cost me a fortune to fix, but more of a paperwork hassle.

I hate the city!!

Don't hate the city... It's not the city's fault. At least double-murders in houses don't occur in the city as often as they do in the "country".

But really, it totally sucks what happened to you last week. I left my bag with my laptop and digi cam in my car all day yesterday (I went shopping). I could not believe I had been so stupid!

As dry as it is, I wouldn't offer more than a big old $1.
