I have shifting problem on my new CRV. The vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission but I have a hard time changing gears from park to drive or any other gears. Can someone share any ideas as to what would cause this problem and if this is a common problem with CRVs?

The problem is common on many Hondas: Civics, Accords...
The linkage or cables and levers that link the shifter to the transmission lose flexibility and, over time, begin to seize up. Have them looked at and lubricated if possible. Otherwise, they will need to be replaced.

Thanks General. I found that hard to believe for a new vehicle with only 5000 km on it has this kind of problem.

General, you are correct. This is what they did to fix the problem. Disassembly the shifter and repair plunge and lub the linkage.

You are welcomed my friend. Assume that if it has happened now, it will happen again in the future. Unfortunately.
