Default Forester or CRV? or the Toyota Rav4?

I am debating between a new or used Subaru Forester XS Premium or the Honda CRV EX-L. Does anyone have any experiences with either of these vehicles?

Thanks,

Here is a simple answer:

Pick the one the drives the best to you.

The short of it is that the CR-V is a FWD vehicle with RW assist. It is roomier and easier on gas.

The Forester is an AWD vehicle, more capable but smaller inside and harder on gas.

They are both reliable.

Only for the room, I would take the CR-V.

Whatever you do, get the vehicles inspected.

General,

Would you consider the Forester better in Winter driving conditions and therefore safer?

Or since the CRV is a higher/taller vehicle, would it be considered safer?

Thanks,
pogs

If you get the Forester and put some Bridgestone Blizzaks on it, the winter will barely seem like a minor inconvenience. The Forester's AWD system is far superior to the RAV4's and the CR-V's. The CR-V has a larger cabin though.

Depends on what you need...

Hyundai Tucson or the Kia Sportage?

They are rated 5th and 6th place on the Consumer Reports list of small SUV's. The Forester and CRV are rated #1 and #2 respectively. Also, the mileage is rated at 21 mpg, vs 18 mpg for the Tucson and Sportage.

I think for reliability sakes, the Forester and CRV are much more bang for buck...but I appreciate your opinions.

It's the fuel economy that is really holding me back.

Thanks,
pogs

Default CR-V or Forester

The Subaru has real 4 wheel drive, I have had experience with both on icy ski hill parking areas, the Honda was usless on the ice, did just as well with a front wheel drive Jetta! As the general pointed out the Sube will not get as good mileage, not much hidden storage areas in any of them.
