4 speed or 5 speed CRV?

Which is better? a 2004 CRV or a 2005 CRV?

I noticed that the 2004 has a 4 speed automatic tranmission, while the 2005 has a 5 speed?

I have not noticed this per say but the 5-speed is supposed to improve fuel economy (3 or 4%...) as well as acceleration times.

One way or another, whatever you can afford will be fine.

Just get it inspected before you buy it!
