I have a 97 Chevy Astro, I would like to get a newer one before my retirement in 4 years, to tow a light travel trailer (3000-3500lb.) The problem is they have been discontinued in 2005. What would you recomend as a good vehicle for towing with enough space for 2 adults and 2 larger dogs, in the same price range to replace the aging Astro? A GM dealer suggested Chevy Trailblazer. What's your opinion? :?:

You could check for a use Astro (2004 or 2005) not too much mileage on it. If you want to stay in GM there's not much choice that replace the 5000 lbs capacity of the Astro. Yeah Trailblazer is one but is near 40000$ for a brand new one. Equinoxe/Torret has 3500 lbs trailing capacity but only 185HP and 210lbs of torque. You have the VUE at Saturn with 3500lbs capacity but 250 HP and about 245 lbs of torque.
Otherwise there's the Nissan X-Terra with a 5000lbs capacity I think if you want something not too big. |
