saturn Sc1 hard idle

Car has been running well until about a week ago and suddenly it is excelerating poorly and does not want to idle at all dies when left to idol and is starting very hard had to pump the gas like a carburator and it finally started but ran rough and does not want to idle any ideas would be helpful :shock: :? :sconf: :sconf:

There are a number of problems associated with the SOHC Saturn engines. There are known to have head gasket failures and internal head failures. I would suggest that you look at the color of your antifreeze. If it is a dark color, not green, you have one or both of the problems. Your situation can be a symptom of head problems.

antifreeze remains green but I am not unsure that this is the problem car won't start at all aat this point it is almost like it is out of firing sequence I replaced the plugs 1 at a time so I know that the wires are on right (alsochecked acording to diagram) so I am at a loss now. Going to check the coil packs next

Electrical failures were also very common. It is difficult to pinpoint the source of the problem. I would suggest you get the car checked before you start replacing parts; it might be done in vain.
