My 2000 Escort ZX2 has this awful squelling sound.

I brought my ZX2 to the dealership when it was under warranty and asked about this sound 8hrs. later they told me it sounded like drivebelt but they weren't sure. I asked several other mechanics...they all said the same thing.

Two years later I have had the drivebelt changed and ....viola! The sound is still there. The mechanic changed the belt the idler pulley and water pump. He says it sounds like it is coming from inside the intake or engine housing.

Has anyone had any experience with this that can help me keep my sanity?
