Default Buying a car

Hi I am currently looking at buying a car. I would preferable like a fast car but to stay around the budget of 5k. There are a few cars im interested in

Sun fire GT 1996 2.4L 5 speed 150,000 kms 4200$ Obo

Ford Focus 2000 4,900$ OBO 5 speed

1992 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 152,000 kms ( In good shape) I beleive its automatic. 5000$

Any advice would be nice or possible any other cars that are around that price range that I should be looking at? I want a car that is quick and possible one I can do upgrades too (engine wise). Thanks any advice is great!

Mr Nixon,

Although your criteria and your choices seem to coincide, I would have to advise against all of these choices.

The Sunfire is an unreliable car with many electrical, transmission and engine problems.

The Ford Focus (up until 2004) was one of the worst cars of the past decade with numerous problems including the same ones mentioned for the Sunfire.

The Grand Prix GTP is perhaps the fastest of the bunch but the 3.4L V6, although powerful, is very fragile and extremely costly to repair and maintain. It also has a number of electrical failures.

I am assuming that if you want something fast it is because you will want to push the car quite a bit. I would strongly suggest that you look into a Honda Civic which is more reliable, easy to fix and very tuneable.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for all of the advice , although where I live Honda Civic's are pricey. The cheapest ones where I live run threw 8 to 10k. Witch goes over my budget
