Am I the only one in Canada complaining to the feds about the lack of action on the rebate programme announced with the budget on March 20? I have written to the PM and every Minister available asking for an application form and after more than 5 months, there is still no action. If every buyer of an eligible vehicle wrote to the PM, maybe we will get some action.

The rebate forms are now available for 2007 models on the canadian government's site:

I don't know where Whohoo gets the information but up to Friday 12 October, I was advised by e-mail that applications were not available, then on Monday 15 October, the forms were available on the ecoAUTO website. I had my form in the mail that afternoon. I wonder how long it will take to get my rebate?? Another 6 or 7 months?? And by the way, I paid tax, both provincial and federal, on the amount of the rebate. Thats the friggin government for you!

I got a letter in the mail acknowledging receipt of my application about a week and a half ago on Friday. It asked me to phone a 1-800 number to confirm there was no change in the information I had submitted 5 weeks earlier. So I phoned, naturally, it was too late, offices closed, only open for business 9 - 4 Ottawa time, I am in Whistler, B.C. On Monday, I phoned again and was advised that I would expect to receive a cheque, after all the "investigation", in about 3 months. With any luck, I should receive my cheque about a year after the government's first announcement of the programme! And they keep sending me pleas for contributions to the Party. With this sort of record, all talk and no action, I am changing my mind.
