i wish i was a cop / south central ontario drivers

So im driving on 400 south between barrie and vaughan in a snowstorm the other day. ANd the idiot drivers never cease to amaze me. This one family in a minivan has no defogger apparently, cause i could see the dime-sized scrape hole for vision in the windsheild... a foot of snow all over it, side windows covered.. this guy shouldnt have left his house...especially with his family on board.

so he's on the 400 and proceeds to nearly cause about 98 accidents in the 2 kilometres i was in front of him. Signals....waits, and changes lane slowly- regardless of if theres someone beside him cause he couldnt see... it was like he'd just expect them to see him and move.

Can a citizen arrest another driver for being a total idiot??? I should have called 911 and reported a drunk. THAT should get your license shredded on the spot. Too stupid to drive, sorry! "OH but I cant afford to get the defogger fixed!" THEN TAKE A BUS!

Or another guy in mississauga in his 4x4 F150 with all-season tires, bluetooth FBI headset and a large mocha latte... This goofwad tries to stop at a red and turn right on some deep snow. He hits brakes, no stopping....so he turns...no turning...THEN, he NAILS the gas and tries to powerslide the corner, winds up hopping 3 curbs with his front wheels cranked and lands about 3 feet off the ground in a snowbank on the other side of an intersection, narrowly missing the light post. Thank god nobody was waiting there to cross the street.

And they're cracking down on 'street racing'???? Idiots like this should loose their license on the spot. In some instances, I dont mind people like this, as it strengthens the species when they do away with themselves..but not when they're on the road with me, my friends and my family. :wink: :roll:

Seriously though, I know exactly what you mean.

I was at a GM stability control demo a while back. It was all very impressive, but somehow disturbing to me. You see, manufacturers keep coming up with devices that take the place of knowing how to drive. It's like they are catering to the bad drivers out there, so that they can feel safe knowing that their car will protect them in an accident situation.

If I was in charge of the country (which hopefully one day they will wise up and give me the chance) I would remove every safety device from every vehicle. I would then weld a 6 inch metal spike onto everyones steering wheel...then we will see just how safely people can drive!!!

While I was at that event, I said to the guy from GM "you appear to be making cars idiot-proof nowadays"? He said nothing but simply smiled, so I added "don't you think that we'd be better off without the idiots on the road"!!

It's funny because he told me that Sgt Cam Wooley of the OPP had said something similar to him earlier. I know Cam personally, he's a pretty smart cop, so I'm not the only one who would like to see better driver training out there.

Because that's what it all boils down to in reality. We need to teach people how to drive properly "before" we let them loose on Death race 401.

There are plenty of excellent advanced driver courses available in Canada. They don't cost an arm or a leg (not taking one could however), so I suggest to everyone that they invest the money in such a course. They are not only a useful driving tool and could save your life, but they are also a lot of fun.

Ian Law who writes for the T.O. Star runs an superb school here in Ontario (I'm sure there are similar schools in all provinces), he has a great way of explaining things, and everyone that I have spoken to who has taken one of his courses raves about how useful they are.

Valentines day has come and gone now, but if someone special to you (son, daughter, wife, husband, mum, dad) has a birthday coming up, how about buying them a real gift of value...driving lessons that could save their lives :idea:

HOnestly though. I hear ya. It's too easy for idiots to drive nowadays. Some cars even turn you back into your lane if you drift out of it, or apply the brakes if you dont do it on time. Why pay attention!!

honest, if they can impound your car for laying a patch or sliding around in the snow now, they can damn well rip up your license if you're clearly of insufficient mental capacity to operate a motor vehicle at all

Now, if you want my guess, it was probably our lovely lady Leadfoot Lesley. That's more her stomping ground and have you seen her own personal transportation! A pretty little Pickup truck with a monster of a V8 in it and foot across rubber on the back! I'd say that alone gives you an idea of what that young lady's all about eh :wink:

We have a Honda Ridgeline as our mascot??

P.S. Actually, my grandfather was a crazy wall of death motorcycle stunt rider back in his day, but alas, it still wasn't me!
