London taxis to go German?

Mercedes-Benz has signed a deal with British firm EcoCity Vehicles to supply a version of the Vito van for taxi use in London.

The six-passenger Vito Traveliner black cab will go on sale at the end of the month, offering both higher fuel consumption and lower emissions than the Coventry-made LTI cabs.

EcoCity CEO Peter DaCosta said: 'Cab drivers and passengers in London will now have a choice of vehicle, and we as a company will continue to look after the driver's needs.'
