The Buyer pays the retail sales tax on the vehicle when they register the vehicle in their name at the MOT office. The amount is based on the book value which the ministry uses.

All you have to do as a seller is purchase the seller's blue package from the ministry at a cost of $20. In that package, together with past owner details etc will be the ministry valuation of the vehicle based on year, model etc.

It's pretty simple really.
