Nameless at the time, my young brain had whipped up an imaginary vehicle I'd someday own. It was truck-hulky, sportscar-sleek, very high-tech, and so radical looking that my friends would be jealous. Under the hood? A race-car engine, of course.

I just dont get it. This must be one of the new suv :sport useless vehicle. This cannot be a rational choice. It comes from the heart not from the head. Sure it must be fun to drive, but I would choose a BMW 335xi : more fun, as practical, 25k less. For that price you could buy an Audi s5, a BMW m3 or a Mercedes c63 amgFlexible cabin. Indeed to get to the back seats you must be very flexible. A 6' 1'' friend ,after finally being able to take place on the back seat was stuck in there, it almost took the firefighters to get him out of there!! I would have make a fortune on youtube if I had a camera. The lateral view is not good and the back view is less than minimal. I just dont believe the fuel consumption numbers. If you absolutely need a SUV the X5 diesel would be a better choice. fun to drive, more practical, half the fuel consumption, 15k lessThe only reason one can buy this vehicle is for the look. A big SUV practical like a Versa!!I admit I just dont like SUV 90% of them will never go off road, they're tough on fuel, less fun to drive than an equal quality car and 90% of the time you dont need the extra cargo , they're dangerous for the other car and give a false impression of security. Like the Hummer ,this vehicle is only an exclusive toy for the wealthiest of us who want to make a statement :I am rich enough to buy this useless machine. But we are in a free ( less and less) country.

Personally, I think the X6 is one of the first SUV's that deserve our attention for its styling. Before the X6, all SUV's were the same, and they were quite boring. With this one, I do WOW every time I see it. I do respect your opinion, because you're post was very interesting and showed me sides of this SUV I never saw before, but I think a lot of people (especially when they have enough money to buy a car like this) will stop their choice on a car only by its look. I think the X6 is working with these kind of people.

I totally agree. I bought a Volvo S60R in great part for his interior look, even tough I was told it was a lemon. And it was!!! If I had enough money , I would buy an Audi S5 even if it's not very practical , ecological and with a lot of useless power with our speed limits and bad roads. But what a great looking car (In my opinion) But the X6 style's make me ambivalent. Sometimes I think it looks great, sometimes I think It looks like a tuned Pontiac Aztek

Aah, the inspiration of many crossovers to come. The Aztek was a precursor. If GM wouldn't have abandoned the Aztek, they wouldn't be on the brink of disaster right now.
