The Tengzhong company confirmed that negotiations were underway with General Motors to acquire the Hummer brand. If all goes well, and we should have an answer before the end of the third quarter this year, not only will the famous brand survive, but it could also thrive.

General Motors Announces Preliminary Agreement To Sell HUMMER

General Motors Corp., announced it has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a buyer for HUMMER, its premium off-road brand. This transaction is the result of GM's strategic review of the HUMMER brand and the company's ongoing restructuring efforts.

2009 Hummer H3T pickup unveiled at Chicago Auto Show

Hummer is expanding its model lineup with a new pickup based on the H3 SUV. The H3T features a 5-passenger crew cab and a 5-foot long (1.5-meter) bed. Standard features obviously include four-wheel drive, off-road tires and skid plates, while front and rear locking differentials are available.

Electric Hummer H3 from FEV and Raser Technologies

FEV, Inc., (FEV) a leading developer of advanced powertrain and vehicle technologies, announced today that it will unveil the Hummer H3 Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (ReEV) demonstrator at the upcoming 2009 SAE World Congress, held at Cobo Center in Detroit on April 20 - 24. FEV partnered with Utah-based Raser Technologies (Raser) in the development of the H3 ReEV, the first vehicle equipped with Raser's range-extended electric vehicle technology. The H3 ReEV will be on display in the FEV booth. The unveiling of the H3 ReEV comes one year after FEV and Raser first showed the technology as a concept at last year's World Congress. The announcement was made jointly by Gary Rogers, FEV, Inc. president and CEO and Jim Spellman, Raser VP of Business Development.

It's a nimble, fresh concept intended to provide a vision of the future direction of the Hummer brand. It's called the Hummer HX concept, and it boasts efficiency and capability while delivering an open-air and fully customizable driving experience. The HX was given its look by three recent design graduates. Each designer submitted a different concept sketch and proposal. The winner, as chosen by GM executives, will be displayed at the NAIAS in Detroit. Imagine having that on your resume!
