Design is key. Design makes something desirable. Something ugly or unpleasant to the eye is typically undesirable, and that's typically the key to failure. Ugly cars will get much attention, but not the desirable type, and most likely this type of press will be detrimental to the car.

Chrysler declines NHTSA request to recall 2.7 million Jeeps

Following an investigation that started back in 2010, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently asked Chrysler to recall 2.7 million 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Liberty SUVs that may be at risk of catching fire in rear-impact collisions. The NHTSA even reported 15 related deaths and 41 injured people.
