Green Light
Good on gas.
Nice little Hatch for the price.
Very nice interior, very roomy.
Engine enable you to have some fun.
Handling and braking are impressive.
6 airbags+ABS std.

Yellow Light
Seat fabric tends to accumulate dust and hair easily.
Not enough torque under 2500rpm, you need to play with the stick.
Manual shifter is a little bit too long.
Automatic lack punch (transmission is only 4 speed and not very well staged)
5th gear on manual could have been staged to benefits economy (longer gear).
No 16inch wheel on sport trim.

Red Light
Very poor OEM tire, change them ASAP.
Exterior black trim tend to become gray with time, need to be takin care of.
Suspension may be too sporty for some people (obviously its ok for me).
Insonorisation could be perfected furthermore.

Review:
A nice, yet cheap, fuel efficient little hatch. If possible, avoid automatic transmission. I've been driving mine for a year and been able to achieve 7l/100km on a regular basis and often less (on a manual transmission).
I changed OEM tire the following week I got delivery cause Hankook OEM tire do not grip at all and could even be dangerous in an emergency braking situation. I fitted 4 Falken 912 tires and that greatly changed handling and braking.
If you're looking for an alternate to the not very roomy nor sporty Toyota Yaris, or the anemic GM Wave/Aveo you just got something interesting with that little Kia Rio5.
Cheers.
Karl

Green Light
My wife and I decided after 3 months that we were not ready for only 1 vehicle . We wanted something small, affordable for us , looked good , had expected very good gas consumption , had reasonable "pick-up " , was very comfortable , had all the latest safety features ( front and side air bags and curtain ,5 Star crash rating , and ABS brakes ) , and not least , was FUN to drive for both of us . My wife loves it , and so do I as I try to borrow it often . Since our other car is a loaded 2008 Subaru Forester with excellent power et al , it is the Kia sport that is FUN! FUN! Fun! I'd like to add that the rear seats fold down and down much like the Buick Rendezvous for a decent amount of storage room . The leg room is much better than all other sub-compact cars that I've been in. For music lovers there are 6 speakers with 2 well-placed tweeters 3setsFM/AM/CD/AUX for iTouch/USB for MP3 players or USB storage that displays the songs and singers on your head unit and plays the music superbly through the cars speakers at a proper sound level !
And there is also a sunroof included .

Yellow Light
I've had the Kia Sport for only a few weeks and have no " be carefuls " at this stage. Only FUN, FUN ,FUN !
|
 |
Red Light
Tall people may have trouble with the low interior roof .
There is no Cruise control , and the radio has no built-in equalizer ( only bass, mid-range , and treble ). There certainly could be more storage room , but this is not unusual .

Review:
I would highly recommend the purchase of theKia Rio5 EX Sport. You will not regret it .Apart from what I've said above , it is a solid car , with impressive closings of doors, hatch-back , and hood . The price is unbeatable for all that is included as standard . It even has a comprehensive 5 year warranty , which is only matched by Hyundai . The friendliness and care and honesty is totally refreshing in the Kia dealership . They sold me what I wanted , and not what they wanted to sell .
