A nice surprise
It was the first time I could actually drive the Infiniti G35x in a variety of road and weather conditions, including snow. That allowed me to thoroughly assess the qualities of this all-wheel drive sedan.

My 7-day road test was enough to convince me that the G35x is an excellent tourer. I had previously heard many owners tell me how much they were satisfied with this car -- and now I knew why. Handling and engine operation truly are worthy of a sports car.

Subdued styling
At first glance, the Infiniti G35x looks like a big car, but when you sit inside, you realize that your eyes have misled you. Overall, the styling is classy though unoriginal, with only the front grille acting as a distinctive feature. The lines are very conservative and they easily blend in with the sea of midsize cars. It's a shame because the G deserves better.

The design of the trunk should also be revised. Long with a high threshold, it makes loading and unloading moderately heavy items quite difficult.

Excellent driving cockpit
In order to adjust the seat, you have to keep the door open; otherwise, you can't reach the controls. The latter should rather be mounted on the door panel, like in a Mercedes-Benz. Once the fine-tuning is complete, however, you enjoy an excellent driving position. The tilt and telescopic steering column is also synchronized with the gauge cluster, ensuring optimum readability of the various instruments -- other manufacturers should do the same.

The front perches do a great job of wrapping and supporting their occupants. Meanwhile, the rear seats prove comfortable, but since legroom is limited, I recommend that you only sit children in the back.

The audio unit and climate control system are up to the task. On the other hand, the wipers do not clear the middle of the windshield well enough to ensure a perfect view of the road ahead. What's more, the windshield-washer fluid tank empties in a hurry.
