What’s New?
Super Duty Ford trucks continue to be available in F250, F350 and F450 as both pickups and as cab and chassis commercial style trucks. The F550 is a commercial cab and chassis only. Cabs come in regular, extended and crew cab versions. Brake rotor swept area has increased by 16% at the front and 14% at the rear which allow for higher GCVW ratings for most versions. Brake pedal feel has been improved and the parking brake has been enlarged. At the upper end, a new Platinum model has been introduced. Sync™ has added and 8 inch screen with improved graphics and higher resolution. My Ford Touch™ has been added for the first time. The voice recognition program has an extended vocabulary.
Towing
Towing capacities depend on type of trailer. A class V towing hitch can be ordered from the factory, but customers who want fifth wheel or goose neck hitches will have to have those items installed at the dealership or an aftermarket hitch specialist. Conventional towing capacity is 8,392 kg (18,500 lbs). Payload capacity is now 3,293 kg (7,260 lbs). Power telescoping exterior mirrors are available on all Super Duty Fords
Interior
Adjustable pedals work in conjunction with an adjustable steering column and 10-way adjustable seating to be able to accommodate the widest range of driver sizes possible. The Platinum model showcases premium wood grain appliques, a heated leather wrapped steering wheel and many other luxury touches. My Ford Touch™ (optional on various trim levels) has been optimized for those who use a truck. Those who wear work gloves will find easy access climate and audio controls are mounted in the center stack. A remote start system is available as well.
Power Train
The 6.2 liter gas V8 which comes in at 385 horsepower and 405 lb.ft. of torque and the 6.7 litre Power Stroke Diesel which produces 400 horsepower and 800 lb.ft of torque are the two engines that are available in the Super Duty Fords. The current diesel is a Ford designed and built engine. Both engines can only be mated to six-speed automatic transmissions, but can be ordered in 2WD or 4WD. The 6.2 liter gas engine which uses regular unleaded or E85 can be ordered with a CNG/LPG package as well.
