Nissan continues to tease with short clips of its new 2013 Altima in advance of its world premiere at the New York Auto Show next month.

The manufacturer is promising "forward-thinking innovations" from the new car, which will result in better fuel economy, premium design, and driver-focused technologies.

Accompanied by the sound of the motor starting and the "fwump!" of Broadway lights as the headlights come on, the low front angle complements the aerial view from the first clip. The overall message is clearly to expect a show-stopper, something of a departure from the conservative styling of the current Altima, and more like the Murano crossover and the Ellure Concept making the rounds a year or so ago.

Rumour has it powertrain options on the 2013 Altima will include a 2.5-litre supercharged hybrid, likely mated to Nissan's CVT.

While the Rogue is their volume-seller here, the Altima is No. 1 south of the border, so they may tease us for a very long time before they replace it.
