McLaren is launching its second model in the new Sports Series, the McLaren 540C Coupe, at the 2015 Auto Shanghai. It will join the recently revealed 570S Coupe and bring the number of new McLarens launched in 2015 to four.
Priced from £126,000, the 540C Coupe can be pre-ordered now in select markets with deliveries scheduled to being in early 2016.
Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes just 3.5 seconds and top speed is rated at 320 km/h thanks to a mid-mounted 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 533 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque from 3,500-6,500 rpm.
Other highlights of the McLaren 540C Coupe include a 7-speed seamless-shift gearbox (SSG), a newly designed MonoCell II carbon fibre chassis (with daily use in mind), large LED headlamps, a rear diffuser, twin exhausts, as well as 19” front and 20” rear wheels.
The spacious and ergonomic cockpit offers great visibility and enough room for passengers and their personal gear. The “floating” centre console houses a 7” IRIS touchscreen for infotainment (the latter also displays the electronic owner's manual). Leather upholstery on the seats, dashboard and lower doors comes standard.
