Pros: The 2015 Toyota Venza is basically a crossover variant of the hugely popular Camry sedan, which means it offers a smooth, quiet ride, a spacious cabin, excellent fuel economy, and stellar reliability. Add plenty of versatility and storage along with available AWD, and you get an excellent vehicle for Canadian families.

Cons: According to our very own Miranda Lightstone, the Venza is uncomfortable up front on long journeys, and pretty noisy at speed. Also, the brakes are soft and the steering a bit vague.

2015 Toyota Camry Price and Fuel Economy: This year's lineup consists of four different trim levels including:

  • Venza    4-cyl.    10.9L/100km    $29,510
  • Venza V6    V6    10.4L/100km    $31,265
  • Venza AWD    4-cyl.    10.5L/100km    $31,310
  • Venza AWD V6    V6    11.3L/100km    $33,065

*based on Natural Resources Canada's new 5-cycle testing procedure.

All models come standard with heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, woodgrain interior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a multi-information display, and a garage door opener.

Two packages can also be added including XLE and Limited.

Improvements and Changes: New for 2015, all models are now standard equipped with a back-up camera and the latest generation of Toyota’s Display Audio System, featuring a 6.1” touchscreen, USB audio input, automatic sound levelizer technology, Bluetooth capability, integrated Sirius XM Satellite Radio and steering wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls.

Powertrain: The base 2.7L DOHC 4-cylinder with dual intelligent variable valve timing generates 182 horsepower, while the 3.5L V6 produces a solid 268 horsepower along with 246 lb-ft of torque. Each one teams up with a 6-speed automatic transmission that features manual shift capability.

Cargo Capacity: The 2015 Toyota Venza has a 870-litre trunk that expands to 1,990 litres when you fold the rear seats.

Safety: Standard features include stability and traction control, disc brakes with ABS, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, as well as smart stop technology, which automatically cuts engine power and allows the brakes to take precedence over the accelerator when both pedals are pressed at the same time. Let's not forget the seven airbags and active front head restraints.

Comparing the 2015 Toyota Venza: The midsize crossover segment also includes the Ford Edge, Honda Crosstour, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Kia Sorento, Nissan Murano, and Subaru Outback.
