Following on the heels of the now-available XD version of Nissan’s newly-redesigned TITAN truck, the carmaker has released details of the upcoming half-ton version to audiences at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show taking place this week.
Where the XD TITAN aims to tackle the market for full heavy-duty trucks with an aggressive price point, the standard-model TITAN will fit into the more traditional full-size truck segment, where half-tons rule. The new TITAN is built on a different chassis than the XD, and is slightly shorter than its larger sibling.
Nissan will offering the half-ton TITAN in 5 separate trims, in both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive versions, and with three different cabin configurations and bed lengths to choose from, consumers will be able to pick the trim and set-up that meets their needs.
The new Nissan TITAN half-ton will feature a 7-speed automatic transmission mated to a 5.6L Endurance V8 engine producing 390 HP. It is expected at North American dealership by this summer.
