The improvements to the Cadillac ELR extended-range electric coupe for 2016 include boosts in acceleration, driving performance, and connectivity.

More specifically, buyers can expect a more than 25% boost in power and torque, faster acceleration that improves 0-96 km/h by 1.4 seconds, higher top speed, retuned chassis and steering for better handling, more responsive brakes, and a new Performance equipment package.

Distinguished by a new grille and Cadillac’s new crest, the 2016 ELR will be eligible for provincial incentives from the provinces of Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.

The ELR's pure electric drive unit combines with an efficient, range-extending 1.4L gasoline-powered engine-generator. It supplies a range of up to 60 kilometres in EV mode. Meanwhile, the slightly enhanced Regen on Demand system optimizes deceleration and energy storage.

For 2016, OnStar with 4G LTE and standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot will provide a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected. The Driver Assistance active safety systems, optional on the current ELR, are standard and include side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert and Intellibeam headlamps.

“ELR’s combination of leading technology with remarkable design is unlike any other coupe in the luxury segment,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “For the upcoming model year our engineers have upgraded ELR, enhancing its driving performance for buyers seeking uncompromising luxury with electrification technology.”
